Trip to Wedel, like a greedy school kid.

Every year in December Wedel, the most famous Polish chocolate company, has an open day. You have to book in quick as tickets vanish in seconds on the internet. We got in the second it opened online and had to get the third time we wanted! It is that popular. But I do recommend it.

because you get samples

of all sorts

even new things. like this watermelon flavoured chocolate.

Not everyone likes chocolate on the weekends.

Chocolate on the move

boxed up for the masses

And wrapped for transport.

These guys
make cool things

bears too

Frogs and elephants

Even the board room table has the company symbol built into it.

And the light fixtures

It is always chocolate time on this clock.

The arrow points to where all the chocolate went.... in me.

There is also chocolate art

Balerinki

Everything in this display is chocolate.... except the woman.

Even though it was Decemeber we could still walk outside.
And headed into Nowy Swiat where the Christmas decorations were going up.

with a small army

Everyone seems to be happy.

400 in Eggy days

So after 5 years, I am up to 400 posts. Amazing. And from the volume of comments and readership I should probably give up.  But, that isn't important now, as it is Easter time.

It is that time of year, where it is all about eggs. Unlike Australia, Poland is more focused on real eggs and not the chocolate variety. So this year we have decorated as follows:

Mrs Moo

Murtle the Turtle

fishy fish
Cake

My attempt at a kookaburra

the world of egg
Babuska

Pick the engineers egg....

the sea
As you can tell we go a little all over the place in style. But it is fun. I hope you all have a fun and safe Easter.

Cider Days With Michał

DJ Wysocki aka Michał is a guru of many things and was a great young lad when I mentioned making some cider, in that he said he could bring me some organic chemical free apples from the wild East where his family has a small holding. So I got organised in the ol' kitchen and cleaned all surfaces getting it all ready so that we could get the party started.

demijohn fashion parade

Fill the bath with apples and soak them giving them a little scrub if need be.

And start the juicing

working it through some muslin

but wait there is more

Michał getting a run on the juicer

mixing up the duties

choppy choppy

and after filtering into a demijohn

keep working on those apples remaining

and juice it

this is all the waste from our fabulous Hurom juicer

unveiling the last batch

squeezing out the left overs.

and finishing with two demijohns and a fermenting bucket. After a good 2 hours.
