The world around me is like a champagne environment. I swear.... Ok, so sometimes you have a great idea, other times you have just ideas, most of the time you have not so amazing ideas. This is one of these, yes I am being non-specific. I tried to capture the random nature of a fountain very close to home on one bright sunny summer's day. What do you think? It is artistic?

A stroll around Solec and Łazienki in the sun would be lovely today. So, it is a nice day to think about the sun. Just before the bleak midwinter hits us. We know the only way is up, in relation to sunshine!

Post 500! Park life

Well, I have been super lazy of late. The really crappy weather has got me down, I haven't photographed much and with the political scene at the moment I haven't really felt too in love with Poland to be perfectly honest. So, I held off on doing anything on here at all. Who knows, maybe this will be the last year of this blog. It may even be the last post! Who knows?!

Today with the sunshine the public holiday and the chance to get off the couch we went to one of our local parks, a beautiful place and a dog paradise.

Slow Food Festival 2014

Last year, as we have for the last 3 years, we attended the gorgeous and fabulous Slow Food Slow Breakfast. It is a celebration of real food and real producers. This year was an eclectic mix of chefs from differing restaurants:

• Wojciech Modest Amaro/Atelier Amaro (the only Michelin starred Polish Restaurant)
• Aleksander Baron/Solec 44
• Witek Iwański/Aruana
• Arkadiusz Janczarek/Restauracja 99
• Sebastian Olma i Zbyszek Kmieć/Kafe Zielony Niedźwiedź
• Agata Wojda/Opasły Tom PIW

It was organised by the Slow Food group and Kuchnia TV. This year it was based in the
Reduta Banku Polskiego which was the old Central bank of Poland, a building that was established around 1907 (I believe) but badly damaged in the war, and recently rebuilt but, in my eyes, not in a way that reflects the previous beauty. That said, the food was why I was there.

A decent crowd was in.

Plenty in the line for the coffee and tea.

Tables prestocked with bread, apple juice and water.

The chefs responsible were introduced

There were literary celebrities

And their glamorous wives

Others were wondering what would come.

All they needed to do was read the menu

Or wait for the servers.

This was the Amaro dish, a cured fish

Then cured meats

semi cured ham with mushrooms and rye bread.

A savoury Polish buckwheat with smoked goose

A nervous look when asked for an interview

Millet and pumpkin bake

For the love of good honey.
