Photo Competition Winners

Thank you to the 150 people who voted on the photo competition, here and on the blog. You are great people, and I appreciated you taking the time to vote.

The winners are in, in all ways. It is a funny occurence that the two winning photos were taken 3 days apart in fresh springy Sokółka in Eastern Poland.

The three winners of the grand prizes (being a calendar made of photos from the competition) are......... Aly S, Ewa W and Kerry C. We also decided to draw a special bonus prize and that went to Aleksandra P (who recieves a print of her choice from the competition).
All winners were selected by the random number generator at random.org
Top 5 in order are:

2014 Best Colour Photos

The concept is easy. Just write in the comments at the bottom which of the photos you like. Also, feel free to comment about what you think about them. Feel free to vote for as many as you like .For the past four years I have run this competition to see what was the best photo I took during the last 12 months(ish). Partly because I am bad at choosing which are my best and partly because it is nice to know what other people like. It lets me remove my emotions, experience and established connotations from the photos themselves.

It was really hard to narrow it down to the 18 in fact there was meant to be well over 30 but sometimes you have to make hard decisions!! If you have friends you want to share this with, just give them the link. There is a black and white section as well, and don't forget a random voter will be selected for a prize as well. :)

I will close votes off on the 21th of November.

Striding around Sokółka

Time to duck out of the capital for a while to hit the highs of the Eastern border region. Poking around the recently harvested fields and enjoying some stormy weather, is always a fun thing.

Strolling around we found on the fringes of the field some unharvested grains

They were from several seasons, some obviously self sown.

I think, but am not sure, they are oats, buckwheat and barley.....anyone able to help here?

The site manager

armageddon?

I can't even explain why this photo just fills me with happy feelings.

There was a drop of rain about.

And the odd stork dropped by, thankfully baby free.

And the sun sets on another Eastward journey.
