Ourense, Galicia, Spain.

Ourense, is a quaint little town, we decided to stop off here on the chance that we would find something to eat. In the end we weren't quite on time to meet the lunch time hours. So, we had a glass of wine and some tapas in a lovely little bar on the central square, walked to the river and then tried to get out of town, that was indeed a challenge. It is a town full of crazy one way streets.

A sparkling rose and a glass of local red.
oh really?
A quaint little shopping arcade.
Photo number 7 million of food.
Once you leave Santiago the "Tarta de Santiago" becomes a normal old "almond tart".

Time for a diet for this statue, maybe a few less almond tarts......
The Ponte Vella (oldest river in town) over the river Miño which flows towards Portugal and then becomes the border between the two countries.

Sentimental Setenil de las Bodegas

Setenil de las Bodegas, is a funny little town. It is built, in part, into the rock face with some of the houses and businesses being based in the rocks. It can of course mean that some places look really dank and wet, while others look super impressive. It was a fun town to drive in as many of the streets were just the size of our hire car! Scary but fun at the same time.

One of the constantly wet looking houses.

A bar is always a welcome addition.

The surrounding hillsides, reminds me a lot of Australia and somehow Switzerland!

Spain bits continued Gibraltar

Gibraltar. An English rock in the Med. Tough to get a park before we got to the border. We only had limited time, so it was a quick stroll about the manic high street and then back to the car to head off. There was no monkeying around, no souvenir shopping, not even time for some tea and scones.

Oh really.....?

Out on the tiles

Visions of Nelson.

Stony faced characters

Sounds a little suggestive, especially with the large erections.

Spain highlights, Andy and Lucia.

Recently we went for our first holiday in a little over a year, renovating will do that to your budget. We headed to Andalucia, it was nice to get away from town for a while, drive again, eat some tapas and drink some Sherry (the regions wine of choice). Here are a few highlights of the trip. We'll start with Ronda, a rather touristic town, but full of hidden gems, just get walking.

The most famous view of Ronda

There was lots of knocker and knob porn in Ronda for me, someone who loves them.
