Warsaw Whaling

When a Whale in the Vistula is a lesson and a whale in the Vistula is real, but not, but still important.

Some time back a traveling Belgian based art installation series http://www.captainboomercollective.org was in Warsaw teaching people about climate change, animal extinction and human impacts. They do a great job and on a particularly freezing day kept the crowd interested. I was impressed.

They teach people about the whale by making a life like beached whale, smells, offal all included. An amazing piece of work.

As you all know the river is the coolest place at the moment, this summer it has been super popular with all the kiddies. Everyone down there during the hot nights as there it always seemed to be a couple of degrees cooler, it was nice and open and you wouldn't be bothering the neighbours with your bad singing, dancing in heels or clinking of bottles saying "Na Zdrowie!"

In relation to the Powstania memorial days the national stadium spelled out "We Remember" scrolling around it in lights. Which is pretty cool.

More River Time.

This time of the year it can be lovely to get out and enjoy the long twilight and deep sunsets. I have probably been along the Vistula (Wisła) river a hundred times, whether jogging, biking or strolling as I was doing on this occasion. It is such a nice thing to have a wild river in the middle of town. I just wish people Poles and the international contingent would keep their bits clean, that means the cigarette butts, bottles and bottle tops. It really is a simple request.... no? So, instead of seeing the rubbish, hopefully you will enjoy the pretty part.
