Watchet, Somerset, UK.

Our last stop on our trip to the UK for May in 2017 was.... Watchet..
The amazing Pebbles Tavern. The only place to go for cider ever! They have crazy good cider, and a variety that cannot be matched.
The Watchet Station House, just next to the local Indian takeaway.
A great local initiative about the history of the area, from vikings to dinosaurs.

Why caption this? 'Tis pretty obvious.
but you see it is all made up of tiny hand made children's tiles.
The harbour.
Harbour mudflat
Lovin' a bit of sea fog in the morning.
Down low in the harbour.

Continuing our sand collections, this time harbour muddy sand. Hard when it is wet... but we still have it.
When buildings think they are Popeye.

Getting around to Galicia

Our most recent holiday was focused on the north west of Spain. Starting in the principality of Asturias, through Galicia, a little part of Castilla y Leon and back to Asturias again. Flying into Santander airport and then grabbing our hire car, which in tradition of travel we promptly named Coutinho Santiago the Fiat Panda. Then we got a driving, in some beautiful Asturian country, sea to the right, mountains to the left. It was a bold green verdant land around us. For the end of summer one would naturally expect the Spanish countryside to be a little more wilted and weather beaten. This it was not, more lush than I have seen any part of Spain, Asturias is fed by waters running down from "Los Picos de Europa" they can't really grow wine grapes here, but apples and legumes love it.

Our first road stop was a cute town of Llanes, it was just a coffee break after the one and a quarter hours drive from Santander, to stretch the legs and poke around our first taste of the sea since May. Yes, living in Warsaw does mean you don't get a great deal of sea influence.

Llanes harbour.
love that the tower was incorporated to other buildings

The first of many bakery windows I ogled.

Sentimental Setenil de las Bodegas

Setenil de las Bodegas, is a funny little town. It is built, in part, into the rock face with some of the houses and businesses being based in the rocks. It can of course mean that some places look really dank and wet, while others look super impressive. It was a fun town to drive in as many of the streets were just the size of our hire car! Scary but fun at the same time.

One of the constantly wet looking houses.

A bar is always a welcome addition.

The surrounding hillsides, reminds me a lot of Australia and somehow Switzerland!

Spain bits continued Gibraltar

Gibraltar. An English rock in the Med. Tough to get a park before we got to the border. We only had limited time, so it was a quick stroll about the manic high street and then back to the car to head off. There was no monkeying around, no souvenir shopping, not even time for some tea and scones.

Oh really.....?

Out on the tiles

Visions of Nelson.

Stony faced characters

Sounds a little suggestive, especially with the large erections.
