Apperance: caramel/amber, with low fizz, and poor head retention

Aroma: Really light, not much in it, some caramel, some hops but pretty light.

In the mouth: It is what I would call a typical Polish beer, it has the sourness of badly used hops and has some sweetness to it. But across the tongue it really doesn't do a thing.

Drink with: Nothing, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Brewery: Okocim

Alcohol: 5%

Volume: 500ml

Cost: 4.20PLN

Apperance: Nicely golden orangey -yellow. The traditional cloud associated with wheat beers and also a decent head early on, that vanished quickly when drinking.

Aroma: Really fresh and creamy, some hint of  orange and lime citrus (especially after I added lime)

In the mouth:Really smooth, simple and a little hit of hoppiness towards the back of the palate and some peachy/apricoty sweetness

Drink with: Anything that you want on a sunny summers day. It is the perfect warm weather beer. Would be equally great with fruit as with fish. A great outdoors beer.

Overall:  Really nice and a beer I will buy more of.

To Robe and beyond.... SE of SA

We needed to get away and have a little holiday while in South Australia, having done Kangaroo Island last time, we decided to venture a little further southward, and went to stay in Robe. A surfing and fishing town about 4 hours drive south of Adelaide central. It is a beautiful place, empty at this time of year, but gets crazy busy at Easter and Christmas time.

You have to stop at a bakery when travelling in Australia for a pie and a can of ginger beer. This is at a Meningie on the banks of Lake Alexandrina

An interesting thing how the sides of a lake can be dry and barron!

There were plenty of Correlas about though.

As you keep cruising southwards about half an hour before Robe you reach Kingston SE, and the famous big crayfish (lobster).

It is pretty darned cool. Always gets me excited, and hungry.

Robe was found first by a Frenchman Nicolas Baudin (right) who also met the English explorer Matthew Flinders (left) in Encounter Bay

Nothing else for it, but on a hot day other than to sit in the beer garden of the Caledonian Inn and have a Coopers Pale Ale a must for a local lad.

including long beach, 12km of unspoiled beach almost always empty

Apperance: dark golden honey, light short lived head, low fizz.

Aroma: Honey and apricot jam, real caramelised sugar
 

In the mouth: strawberry jam with burnt caramel, nice hoppiness to it

Drink with: pistacho nuts, light crackers and prezels, olives a real snacky associated beer.

Overall:  Not as light as hoped, you would have expected an IPA to be lighter, it is quite refreshing and has a little sugary balance at the end with fruit flavours.

Product Review, Bojan Black IPA.

Volume: 500ml

Cost: 7.50PLN

Apperance: Rich blackness and a fine bead on the beer, nice caramel head that holds for about half a glass.

Aroma: warm caramel, treacle, oaty, malt.

In the mouth: beautiful mouthfeel, smooth with some tart on the sides, nice maltiness, with a small hint of sweetness.

Drink with: any sort of dessert, or anything spicy and light in volume. It isn't as heavy as a porter or stout so opens it to flexible applications with food.

Overall: One of the better beers I have had of recent times, I was really impressed and have never had a black IPA before, it was a really pleasant surprise and I would expect to buy this again.

Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland

Kilkenny, a pretty little town in the middle of the country... well kind of. It is famous in Australia and the States as it is the maker of Kilkenny ale, which is something like Smithwicks but not quite the same. Anyway, here they make Smithwicks and Kilkenny... until the end of this year (I think) as they have been bought out by the some company that bought Guiness and it will be now made in the Dublin plant. It will of course effect the flavour, but who knows, maybe it will be better.....

Kilkenny is a town full of pretty old buildings and plenty a pub amongst them. A great place to get your mouth watered.

pretty much sums up Kilkenny to us. A brewery, and beer on every corner. Strongly recommended.
