#9 Botanical Gardens
I have to admit to being surprised by this one being voted in. As all medium to large cities have botanical gardens, yet my students like the Warsaw one more than other places "of note and significance".
The botanical gardens are centrally located one metro stop and a short stroll from the "city centre" or a pleasant leisurely wander south from the centre. They are found next to the more popular and famous Łazienki Park, although they are somewhat smaller and less elaborate in style. The Botanical gardens are actually part of the University of Warsaw and certainly worth the look if you have time and and the lazy 5PLN to get you past the not so smiling Granny in a booth.
I have only been there once, it was this year and at the beginning of
Spring, so not everything was blooming at that stage, but we did get to see some lovely plants and enjoy the environment there.
You can also get a coffee and cake there, but instead we bought some lavender plants which made for a lovely fragrant ride home on the metro.
